Fortinet's flagship UTM solution consists of FortiGate appliance products that provide a broad array of security and networking functions, including firewall, VPN, antivirus, intrusion prevention, Web filtering, antispam, and WAN acceleration. FortiGate appliances, from the FortiGate-50 for small businesses and branch offices to the FortiGate-5000 series for large enterprises and service providers, are based on a proprietary technology platform.
This platform includes FortiASICs, which are specifically designed for accelerated processing of security and networking functions, and the FortiOS operating system, which provides the foundation for all security functions. FortiGuard security subscription services provide end-customers with access to dynamic updates to antivirus, intrusion prevention, Web filtering and antispam functionality based on intelligence gathered by a dedicated FortiGuard Labs team. By combining multiple proprietary security and networking functions with purpose-built FortiASIC and FortiOS, the FortiGate UTM solution delivers broad protection against dynamic security threats while reducing the operational burden and costs associated with managing multiple point products.
The FortiGate product line is complemented by a family of FortiManager appliances, which enable end-customers to manage the system configuration and security functions of multiple FortiGate appliances from a centralized console, as well as FortiAnalyzer appliances, which enable collection, analysis and archiving of content and log data generated by our products.
Fortinet also offers other appliances and software that provide additional protection, such as: FortiMail, a family of multi-featured, high performance messaging security appliances, FortiDB, a family of appliances that provide centrally managed database-specific security, FortiClient, a software product that provides endpoint security for desktops, laptops and mobile devices and that is primarily used in conjunction with our FortiGate appliances, FortiWeb, an appliance that provides security for Web-based applications, and FortiScan, an appliance designed to provide endpoint vulnerability assessment and remediation.
