EMC Documentum Federated Records Services
Enterprises can extend in-place records management to content located in multiple source repositories. All policies are stored in a single virtual master repository with a single set of behaviors and data integrity. Content remains in the source repository.

Federated Records Services can be added to any supported EMC Documentum environment and can be used in conjunction with either EMC Documentum Retention Policy Services or EMC Documentum Records Management.

EMC Documentum Physical Records Services
Organizations can manage paper and electronic records with a common interface and common policies. Administrators can create and manage objects that represent physical items such as documents, folders, and boxes, and create a virtual warehouse that supports locations, bays, bins, and shelves.

In addition, administrators can apply Retention Policy Services and Records Management functionality such as promotion, disposition, and hold capabilities to both physical and electronic records. You can add Physical Records Services to any supported Documentum environment and use in conjunction with either Retention Policy Services or Records Management.

EMC Documentum Records Manager
Organizations gain formal records management capabilities, security, records classification, and file plan features. Records Manager is a modular component that works with Retention Policy Services and Physical Records Services or Federated Records Services. It’s required for certifications such as Model Requirements for the Management of Electronic Records (MoReq) or Department of Defense (DoD) 5015.2 v3.

You can add Records Manager to any supported Documentum environment. For DoD certification, it has pairings with EMC Centera and EMC SourceOne products.
