Barracuda Features
Intuitive Policy, Discovery, and Compliance
Enforcing corporate content policies, compliance with regulations and supporting litigation requests are a growing part of administrators' duties. This includes managing email retention, message retrieval and delivery of relevant communications. In support of these requirements, the Barracuda Message Archiver provides standard and customizable policies as well as other features,
Retention Policies
A retention policy controls the length of time email messages are retained, whether to comply with government regulations or for company records. Litigation holds are custom policies that can be defined for specific user mailboxes.
Roles
The Barracuda Message Archiver's role-based administration feature organizes access privileges into three tiers: administrators, auditors and users. Integrated with Active Directory, the Barracuda Message Archiver immediately classifies user permissions.
Content Monitoring
The Barracuda Message Archiver enforces standards policies by scanning emails for content such as foul language, personal ID information, job search websites, and other categories. Administrators can also create custom policies to monitor user-defined keywords and phrases. At installation, administrators can quickly activate default policies and new policy definitions delivered by Energize Updates to begin monitoring for policy violations and creating an audit trail of relevant email messages.
Litigation Readiness & Discovery
By using the Barracuda Message Archiver's powerful search features, auditors and administrators can easily compile relevant messages using keywords, dates and sender/recipients and other criteria and export them. Access records and related policy violations can also be readily compiled and sent to legal counsel as requested.
Interoperability
Attachment Stubbing
On average, attachments make up 85% of the content stored on email servers. Attachments can be offloaded to the Barracuda Message Archiver and replaced with "stubs" placed in emails. Stubs link to the attachments stored in the Barracuda Email Archiver for seamless retrieval. Stubbing reduces storage and processing demands on the email server.
PST File Import
The Barracuda Message Archiver imports PST files from users' desktops or laptops. PST file and MAPI email import features let you import all legacy emails as new emails are captured to create a comprehensive, central email archive that speeds search and retrieval.
Access Anywhere
The Outlook add-in lets users search, view and interact with archived messages and manage attachment stubbing from the Outlook interface. The Barracuda Message Archiver Companion lets users search archived email from mobile devices.
MAPI Email Import
Using Microsoft's MAPI, the Barracuda Message Archiver can import emails from Microsoft Exchange servers.
